Featured Series: Abstracts in Motion

In this series, I explore movement in a limited color scheme of red, yellow, and black, with gold and white acrylic pen details. The larger anchor piece is a nod to Hitchcock's "Vertigo", with a dizzying collage of spirals. The smaller companion pieces include various flora and fauna, all in a tumble of motion, as if a waft of wind has lifted them and sent them floating in different directions. Something like a memory that rattles around your brain in quiet moments. Peaceful or disturbing? It's all in how you see it for yourself. While the paintings themselves are full of motion, the titles are equally fun: Vertigo, A Flurry of Flowers, A Hazard of Hearts, A Tumble of Tulips, and A Flight of Fowl.

Series: Flowers from My Childhood

Growing up in California’s San Benancio Valley, I developed an early appreciation for nature through long walks among fields of wild poppies and lupines. Being outdoors was my happy place; my safe place. These formative experiences inform the work in this series. Creating this series helped me get in touch with my inner child and heal some old wounds. Now they are reminder of how far I’ve come in my growth as a human in this sometimes volatile world.

Series: A Study in Black and Red

After taking a break from creating art, I knew I needed to come back to it. To charge my creative energies, I challenged myself to focus on a minimal color palette to see what would come out of that. I chose black and red. It was simple - no color decisions to make - just pick up a brush or palette knife and go. It was just what I needed to restart my practice. We can’t help but grow when we give ourselves permission to do things in a different way or look at things from a different angle.

Series: Floral Vases

This series is for the free-spirited people who find joy in the simple act of picking wildflowers or snipping some from the garden and placing them carefully into a vase. Whether the intent is to brighten spirits or turn a humdrum space into a vignette, the result is much deeper than that. It’s an expression of love and of self.

Series: Abstract Exploration of Being

This series came about when I was working through some emotions. I was feeling the weight of the world - in my personal life and in the larger arena of the power struggles we see all around us. I needed an outlet, and painting flowers wasn’t going to cut it. This series came to be intuitively, and resulted in these four pieces with energies around chaos, our personal and collective unraveling, abuse of power, and finding our way through.
